Episode 180

God Mode

Massive week at TCB - we’ve gone to the top office in the land for help and the big dog Albo has come to our aid, reaching out to his Indonesian counterpart to negotiate the safe release of Ro from Bali’s Kerobokan Prison. Meanwhile, Sen is off on a plane to Qatar getting a last minute call up from Arnie to join the Socceroos squad as specialist drinks carrier. Speaking of Qatar, huge week for Kushagra as he reveals he has well and truly caught World Cup fever, as he applies his Pro Clubs knowledge to real life ball. We also hear about his struggles with a hand me down iPhone 7+, eating escargot before Ro explains what a dating consultant is.

“Stockholm Syndrome” is back and once again there is a twist. In this game we honour the biggest event of the year, one that has been anticipated for a number of years and is set in a distant Arab land - we are of course talking about Warzone 2. In this version of “Stockholm Syndrome,” Kush and Ro must guess between locations on the new Warzone 2 map or footballers at the World Cup.

“Heroes and Villains” is a new segment where we can freely slander people we know under the guise of labelling them ‘Heroes’ or ‘Villains.’ Simple premise: the boys discuss actions of individuals with questionable or ambiguous morals and they must decide whether they can be considered a hero or a villain. To kick us off, Kush submits himself for judgement, then throws the Coffee Constable under the bus, we also hear about Mig’s bad friend, before ending on Ro’s Triple Zero bandit of a housemate.

Also this week: Warzone, fashion consultants, Taraq, lox beats slander and the Darlinghurst Batman.

Segments this week:

The Logue: Tired of reaching around each other (at least on the podcast), the boys have instead decided to reach around the week’s news stories, events and viral trends.

Stockholm Syndrome: This segment has nothing to do with actual Stockholm Syndrome, instead this is a game where the boys try to distinguish between IKEA products and another unrelated category.

Heroes and Villains: The boys discuss the morality and actions of dubious characters they come across in society.

Critical Banter

Established by 4 high-school friends in 2018, Critical Banter was formed through a shared love of comedy, entertainment and gaming. The launch of the podcast in 2019 was, at first, to validate their humour beyond their family and friends.

Now, The Critical Banter Podcast is a fast-growing comedy podcast that emulates the feel of late-night shows and engages heavily with their listeners to create relatable content - including story-telling, games and Q&As.
